we had another wargame this weekend, again the romans against hanibal and his elephants. (still learning the warmaster ancients rules !!)

The roman clash with the carthaginian in the centre

the battlefield, on the carthaginian left flank, hidden by the trees, 4 units numidian horse and 3 units barbarian infantry threatend the roman right flank !!!

after destroying the roman heavy cavalry and some roman legionairs, the carthaginian elephants get surrounded.

again the roman won, but only by killing the carthaginian general. all together it was a real thight game, with lot of destroyed units on both sides...

we did our first warmaster ancient game this weekend, romans against carthaginians. it was great fun, although we should have done a better job in reading the rules !!! at the end it was a victory for the romans, (more thanks to their god of luck, than by tactics...hahaha, sorry Matthijs).

found this skeleton elephant (or mammoth) in our local Action, (a shop with low priced products) while looking for some cheap lego for my boy. it was packed with a couple of dinosaur skellies. I think the scale is perfect !! The howdah is from a zvezda elephant, the skellies are from caesar. have to buy some more boxes

not much painting this month, working on a game room in the garage. work of progress photos here. the table is 480x120 cm and based on some old kitchen cabinets, and some board-storage cabinets I made myself. will have to buy some more cabinets to show my miniature collection! the terrainboards are removable and they measure 120x60 and 60x60 cm. the trolls have arrived. they are from old glory and are listed as 25 mm ice trolls. ordered them by old glory UK, and it took more then 2 months to arrive by mail (from the US via UK to NL).

but they are worth the wait. a perfect match for my 20mm caesar orcs. just have to paint them...

what will be my next fantasy army ? Undead or....dwarfs!! ordered these dwarfs from Magister Militum - Blood dawn range. although listed as 15mm, they are very large 15mm, perfect for 20mm...take a look for yourself. I love the bear-and ram-riders. WM doesn't have rules for dwarven cavalry, but these models are soooo cool, I have to include them and just make my own rules for them.

much to warm to do any painting, just relaxing in the garden with a cold beer and my family and friends. there are worser ways to spend your time... but I did some cad work in my spare time at work, (it has airco). it is a leman russ tank from the 40K universe. I'm not going to print it at the time. waiting on the new material at my 3d printing service, wich makes models with much more details possible. but imagine a battle with lots of 20mm imperial guard and lots of leman russ tanks against my 20mm tyranids!!!

3d printing for a realy acceptable price. just under $ 5,-. a piece. I got these today. the detail is not as crisp as I would like, but I think it is acceptable. I painted one with silver to show out the details better

Bought a scifi tank from critical mass games. a realy nice hightech tank. although originaly a 15mm miniature I think it works wonderfull well with 20mm.

space orks, having the idee a long time, finaly made some examples. 40K/epic orks in 1/72 scale. Caesar's orcs with weapons from a box valiant germans I bought ones, but thought they where to big in comparison with other 1/72 stuff. the weapons will now be in service of the mighty ork horde. looking forward in converting some ww2 tanks into orks warmachine. have to look in some old white dwarfs to get some inspiration. the last picture is a comparison with his larger original games workshop (big)brother

finaly something to show to you. I'm working at the moment at my 20mm orcs and goblins army based for warmaster. Mostly they are caesars plastics, but there are some metals amongst them. The wolves an boars are from the 15mm blooddawn range. I think they are a perfect match to my ceasar orcs. The hero's are miniknight metals (also from caesar) and the wyvern and trolls are from splinterd light. the rocklobber is scratchbuild.
